Landowner Resources
This WOI Landowner Resources hub provides family forest owners with a comprehensive clearinghouse of trusted guides, management tools, and practical information to support active stewardship and long-term health of privately owned oak forests.
A series of publications that offer forest landowners important information about oak trees and improved forest management practices within upland oak forests. Developed by the White Oak Initiative in partnership with the University of Kentucky Department of Forestry and Natural Resources, these 11 documents feature information on the importance of oaks, oak biology and common forest management practices to ensure oak regeneration — plus basic facts about several upland oak species in addition to white oak.
Oak Resiliency Assessment
The Oak Resiliency Assessment Tool is a free resource created by the Forest Ecosystem Monitoring Cooperative, in collaboration with the Northern Institute of Applied Climate Science and the Forest Stewards Guild. This Assessment can be a valuable first step in preparing or updating a forest management plan to ensure the long-term health of your oak stand. By answering a series of questions about your stand, the tool will generate a customized report assessing whether that stand is at Low, Moderate, or High vulnerability to climate change and related threats, and will highlight key stressors along with practical management or adaptation actions to enhance forest resilience.
